Alan Hayman grew up Washington, DC, and graduated with honors from the School of Management at Boston University. Having grown up in the family cash register business, started by his father in 1938, Alan joined his brother, Richard, in what became Hayman Systems. He and his brother built one of the largest and the most successful POS resellers in the US with operations Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, South Florida, and Colorado.
In late 1999, Hayman Systems and its affiliates were acquired by MICROS Systems, Inc., the world’s market leader in hospitality and retail technology. Alan became the EVP of a large MICROS business unit called Restaurant Sales and Strategies. He retired from MICROS in 2006, and after a brief stint as a ski bum in Aspen, Colorado, he launched Hayman Consulting Group LLC. MICROS was later acquired by Oracle for $5.2 billion.
Alan is recognized as a leading industry consultant with extensive background in the hospitality and retail technology verticals who a unique understanding of business models, distribution strategies, and the competitive landscape.
Alan has lectured at leading universities including Boston University, University of Colorado, and University of Maryland. He has been a keynote speaker and leads education sessions for the Retail Systems Providers Association at RetailNow.
He has served the board of the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration, SICOM (acquired by Global Payments), The Ratner Companies, and consulted for the National Restaurant Association.
